artist statement
I am captivated by the connections between our individual & collective psychosocial experiences, myth making, narrative sharing, and how these elements manifest in creative expression. My pieces are an exploration of these connections; they are my compulsive delving into the complexities of identity and how this staple in the human experience ripples out to construct families, subcultures and whole heritage systems. My practice aims not only to be products of my own self expression, but also to make deep explorations of self guided study of art, psychology, anthropology, and sociology accessible. By combining digital techniques with traditional materials, I create contemporary portraits and write short vignettes, poetry and essays that seek to deeply know and honor the kaleidoscopic nature of the human experience.
*currently: writing about personal narratives, context, art & family archives
